Live for God – You’re His Child

Let’s open this letter by asking this question, do you know that God cares all about you? Yes, He cares ALL about YOU…so, give Him ALL your worries and cares, today! Begin to get to know Him better…for as you get to know Him better and better he will give you, through His great power, everything you need for living a truly good life.

To know God better will take putting aside your own desires so that you will become patient and godly, allowing God to have His way with you. Putting aside your own desires will help you enjoy other people and to like them. Finally you will grow to love them deeply…growing strong spiritually and becoming fruitful and useful to our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

As a born again person, “Christian” we are now called a child of God. As a child of God we can be assured that He cares about EVERYTHING we do. He cares all about your body, soul and spirit. He is your healer for whatever ails you. Do you believe this?

1 Peter 1:14 – 15 (NLT) So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.

Why do you obey God? You should obey God because it is a privilege to obey Him knowing that you are His child. Isn’t it exciting to know that God is not up there looking down on you waiting for you to make a mistake? This makes me want to love God even more and be obedient to Him as my Father and friend.

This is my prayer, may you make it yours… “Thank You, Father for personally inviting me to be your child. I love you, for how could I ever disappoint you as your child.”

  • 1 Peter 1:18 – 19 (NLT) For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

Yes, God paid a ransom for you and me. He took you and me off the wide road that leads to hell, the wrong road and placed us on the straight and narrow road that leads to heaven and a life with Him for eternity. How could I want to do anything else but serve, love and appreciate Him? What a loving Father!

  • 1 Peter 1:23 – 25 (NLT) For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

As the Scriptures say, People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever. And that word is the Good News that was preached to you. God’s Word has promised that the OLD life that I once lived, the natural life will fade away and that I will have a NEW life FOREVER!

Isn’t it exciting to know that we will live forever when our life and belief is in God’s Word. As a born again believer we are guaranteed eternal life with God our Father, never ending… yes, we shall live forever!

1 Peter 2:9 – 11 (NLT) But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. God your creator has chosen you as His very special child…He has made us priests, holy and pure.

Remember, it is God who does the refining, but it is we who must be willing to let God make us holy and pure; and it is we who have to be determined, NEVER to return to darkness once we’ve been in the light.

May you make this your prayer as I make it my prayer… “Thank you, Father God for placing a desire in me to want to obey you!”

  • 1 Peter 2:16 (NLT) For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.

There is complete freedom in Christ Jesus. God has given you freedom to do everything that He wants you to do. Because you are FREE from the law, you have FREEDOM to do what God wants you to do, keeping you from doing ALL wrong.

Reading and studying Gods’ Word, and obedience, is a prime way God sanctifies us for His work and living a Holy and pure life. As we earnestly seek Him (pray) and read His Word (study) there becomes a desire to know Him better and a determination to follow and obey His word. Now that you are God’s child you have been set free from your old sinful nature doing what Satan wants you to do. NOW you are free to do only God’s will at all times. Do you believe this promise? As a believer we are set free to obey and do God’s will!

I am determined to serve and obey God! How about you?

  • 1 Peter 2:2 – 3 (NLT) Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness. As a child of God you should be hungry for the Word of God, His goodness, mercy and kindness.

God makes the Christian walk so easy…He tells you what to do and what not to do and most important gives you the desire to do what He wants you to. Let’s pray this together…“Father God, thank you for your Word; your love, mercy and grace and for giving us the desire to want to be obedient and do what is right.”

Make these scriptures personal by placing your own name in the brackets:

2 Peter 1:2-9 (NLT) May God give ( ) more and more grace and peace as ( ) grow (s) in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given ( ) everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable ( ) to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement ( s’) faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more ( ) grow(s) like this, the more productive and useful ( ) will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

Let’s begin to do our part – putting aside our own desires and letting God have His way! His desires working in us and through us! Yes, live for God…you’re his child!

Love in Christ Jesus,
Paul
