July, 25, 2019. A thought for this morning, as I sit in my back yard; I ponder over the greatness of God. Not a cloud in the sky, the beauty and quietness and peacefulness of this early morning.
As stated in Colossians 2, Christ was made the fullness of the Godhead. As stated in verse 10, “ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” Literally, what this means in the greek, ye are “fulfilled”, which is God’s very purpose in creating each believer as fulfilled, when he is truly “in Christ”.
Complete “in Christ” for me is that of a “cutting away” circumcision of natural sins of the flesh. As a true believer we have submitted to a spiritual circumcision. Today, we consider “baptism”, which symbolizes the seperation from sin unto God. This is a much more meaningful way than the circumcision of old; for today baptism identifies the believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ , as we are “buried with him”, in the “baptism of water” then “risen with him” to a new life. Also noted in Romans 6:4-13.
This new covenant, “Christ in us” as a believer, is truly “God in us”. This is what God desires for all mankind, a relationship with Him; but it will only be given to those who believe, desire and receive His SON, Jesus Christ into their heart. What a simple and perfect plan God has laid out to us TODAY!
Yes, faith in Christ, that of repentance, forgiveness and crucifying of the old nature (sin) (death) through faith in Christ brings about a new nature (life). As stated in Colossians 2:12, “ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
How exciting to know that we are raised both physically and spiritually with Christ an ultimate resurrection as a true believer today and forever, Eternally with him. Dead in our sins and quickened together with him; having forgiven ALL our trespasses.
Thank God for His saving grace. Faith in what he has provided, has brought us as a believer, into this relationship with him. Now lets keep this saving grace by following the guidance and direction of his Spirit. The Holy Spirit was sent for our help to keep us on that “strait and narrow way”.
God’s Word, the Bible, was given to us to read, to believe and to follow as it is our “blueprint” for living a life in freedom, “in Christ”.
God’s greatness is truly beyond our own understanding, but “in Christ” we will begin to understand the GREATNESS OF GOD!
As always, love in Christ Jesus, Paul Lundmark
