Entering into God’s Resting Place.

As I again ponder over God’s Word early this morning, in my backyard; being Sunday, I am reminded in Hebrews of the rest we all can have and be in today. So many people have been confused saying Sunday is to be that day of rest, from all our works. Everyday is to be a Sabbath day. Let me explain.

Let me state that it is good to have a day of rest from our physical work for our body sake, but it is not required, today, for this NEW Covenant in Jesus Christ has given us and established a more perfect resting time, everyday. And it is also written in the Bible not to forsake gathering together with other believers to encourage each other in Christ. Worshipping together we all should do as much as possible.

As we read in Hebrews chapter 4, their has come a more perfect rest. This rest on the Sabbath day, was a comparison to that which was coming after Christ…

Today, because of what Jesus did on the cross for all mankind and His resurrection we can NOW, have this rest, a perfect rest in Jesus, for it is NOT by our works that we are saved. This rest can ONLY come from a faith and belief in the birth, burial and resurrection of a living Savior, Christ Jesus, the Son of the living God

We now can enjoy a spiritual rest promised by Christ in this life. We as a believer will enter into this spiritual rest, when we cease trying to work for our salvation and receive the finished work of Christ by faith.

In Hebrews this word “labor” means ” be diligent”. So as we can conclude from these scriptures we do not work to enter into His rest, but we believe with confidence in His Word and His work. Yes, this faith will result in good works as evidence of the very reality of our faith, but it is not the works that save us.

Let’s begin TODAY, to rest in the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

Have a Blessed Sunday. As always, Love in Christ Jesus, Paul Lundmark
