During this morning reading I read in Ephesians Chapter 6 about being strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. As I look into this Chapter, I am reminded of the necessity of being aware of our surroundings that of the physical and spiritual. Let me explain.
God has given all mankind a freewill both the non-believer and the believer alike. With that said, we as believers do have Christ in us and the Spirit of God leading and guiding us into all truth and this is where the freewill of the Christian can become confusing if not prepared and following (righteousness – right living).
The devil will use all types of “strategy” deceiving many for he can appear as “an angel of light” and yet is “a roaring lion”…seeking whom he may devour. We in ourselves are no match for him. We can ONLY stand against him if we are “strong in the Lord” and (6:10) and wear “the armour of God”.
Satan will decieve believers in believing that because of their born- again experience they have been given all things; protection, prosperity, and total healing of their body. It can be concieved that because Christ, the Holy Spirit and God is in us we now have it all.
Don’t misunderstand this, as a born- again believe, because of Christ we do have access to the promises of God and His Word…for they are for the believer to recieve by faith but it is still the ownership of God and still the one that works in and through us by the working of His power through the Holy Spirit. It is to be understood that “Christ is in us” as a believer but it will take our part “freewill” in overcoming the “wiles” strategies of the devil for he is the god of this world and the deciever of the whole world.
Their are two things satan will try to do to the believer if we are not prepared. 1st – satan will cause us to doubt God’s Word and then to disobey it. This is why it is crucial to be prepared spiritually for the enemy, by “putting on the whole armour of God”. Armour is always used in and for the protection of something or someone. In this case the whole armour of God is what we put on. So what will this consist of?
1st – stand firmly, with your mind-thoughts, soul and body girded (surrounded) with righteousness, right living.
2nd – we are to put on the very peace of God through the preparation of the Gospel…reading/studing the Bible, God’s Word is needed for preparation.
3rd – put on (take) the sheild of faith…faith in God’s promises and that of the Son of God, Christ Jesus, has also become our eternal Savior and Lord.
4th – take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the Word of God… this helmet is called “the hope of salvation” full assurance until the end which involves our future. This hope protects the believer’s mind as he seeks continually to be ” casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Co 10:5). The “sword of the spirit” in this context is the “rhema” word, individual text or “saying” of the word. Jesus spoke the written Word to satan when satan came against Him, and satan fleed.
Yes, God’s Word is alive and active, to the believer and when spoken with faith, satan will flee; for satan cannot stand the TRUTH, for God’s Word is the ultimate and final Word!
Lastly, we are to be praying always, that of preserving prayer; this is an invisible prayer and powerful weapon that assures us that God Himself, with His angels are fighting not only for our personal deliverance but in the supplication for others. This war with satan is a spiritual war.
How assuring to know thay God Himself is at battle for our good; both spiritually and physically. Our very souls are at stake for here and eternity.
Let me conclude by encouraging you all to believe God, trust God and obey God in following the Holy Spirit as He guides us into all truth. Jesus is the ONLY way to God. The born-again experience for all to recieve!
God bless, as always,
