Tested / Tempted by Satan be found Flawless by God

Last night as I sat and spoke with my wife I began to reflect on the life of my Savior, Jesus Christ. In the beginning of Matthew, chapters 3 and 4, we read that after Jesus was baptized (immersed in water) by John the Baptist, and came out of the water, the Spirit of God descended on Him in bodily shape like that of a dove, affirming the coming and indwelling of the Holy Spirit. He was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit, to be tempted (a better word would be tested) by satan, thus starting His public ministry.

I find it interesting that after our own born-again experience and with the infilling of the Holy Spirit, it is infallible that we all will be (tempted) or you might say, tested by satan.

Thank God for His mercy and grace. Because of the cross of Calvary, the shed blood of Jesus and His resurrection power, our sins can be forgiven and we can be made right with God through Jesus Christ.

As a “Christian” we have accepted Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Now as a “new” born-again believer, we have Jesus, our Redeemer; God, our Father; and the Spirit taking up residence in us.

Just as Jesus received the infilling or indwelling of the Holy Spirit after being baptized, by John the Baptist through the example of the dove descending upon Him, so it is of necessity for all believers to receive this great and blessed gift, the infilling of the Holy Spirit.

As Apostle Paul in Acts 19:2 asked this question. so I also ask you, “He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit) since ye believed?” The infilling / or indwelling of the Holy Spirit is to be a vital part of the believer; for with the infilling comes a power or boldness to be a witness and is a consuming fire, the cleanser of our souls.

Receiving the infilling of the Holy Spirit will require a time of surrendering your total, mind, body and spirit, to the working of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will come from the inner most part of your being.

Another way to say this is; it consists of being emptied of self and a desire to be filled and empower by the power of the Holy Spirit. This can be considered another experience, after you are born-again or you may experience it immediatly after conversion. Usually a sign of being  filled with the Holy Spirit, comes with speaking in tongues (a Heavenly language between you and God); for the Spirit knows how to pray when we in ourself know not.

Thank God for the infilling of the Holy Spirit who gives us the power to become witnesses of Christ Jesus in us and to live a holy life. The Holy Spirit will be our guide and teacher, who will lead us into all truth.

Just as Jesus was tested by satan so will we as Christians be tested by satan. We too can speak the Word of God, stand firm in our faith and be the very oracle of God. When we stay rooted, grounded in the very Word of God, satan and his demons will find no place in us and they will have to flee.

How exciting to know that there is no temptaton great enough for those who are in Christ Jesus, for He will provide a way to escape. We will fall prey to satans deceptive ways when we allow or entertain in our minds and heart, ungodly, carnal, worldly desires or ways. Satan is defeated in the life of the concecrated, dedicated, Spirit-filled believer, for as we are in Christ, satan will find no place in us. As the scriptures state, ” in all thy ways acknowledge Him (Jesus Christ) and He will direct thy path.

Praise and Glory be to God our Father. I am so greatful for God, my Father; Christ Jesus, His Son and the Holy Spirit, for taking up residence in my body, soul and spirit.

Thank God for His many promises for us to believe and receive. Here are a couple of my favourite ones, ” I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me”, and “in Him I live, move and have my being”. Thank God for the power of the Holy Spirit that works in me to do the very will of God. As I listen to his guidance, obey and do/ apply His Word, I am promised a fruitfilled life and eternal life with Him.

As always,

Love in Christ Jesus. Paul Lundmark
