All is quite this morning but there will soon be a stirring as the people began their day…well, preparing my morning cup of coffee and stepping into the Word of God before I enjoy this day on my 65th birthday. How time flies by.
As we began to read the first few verses of the book of Proverbs, we can grab hold of the purpose of this great book in the Bible; to learn and apply in our lives. This is truly a book for every young person and all should read, periodically. Chapter 10 gives us a contrast between the Godly and the wicked.
King Solomon compiled these proverbs for himself and all to glean from. We can truly learn from the experiences of others if we apply the wisdom gathered from them. Let’s look at the first five verses.
Through out the Bible, we are given instructions in and living this life on earth. Here in Proverbs we see the meaning of wisdom and their biblical meaning:
“Knowledge” awareness of facts.
“Understanding” comprehension of meaning and the inter-relationship of facts.
“Instruction” correction, that of reception of knowledge and understanding.
“Descretion” the thought process, in planning use of facts
“Learning” absorption and retention of facts and their use.
“Wisdom” character; the ability to use one’s knowledge and understanding effectively in one’s own life and in dealing with others.
“Wise counsels” ability to convey wisdom to others; in other words, good advice.
The above attributes come just from the first five verses. It is worthy to note that we receive wisdom by living a Godly life and through wisdom comes a long life, ultimately eternal life in heaven and the new earth.
Also worthy to mention is that understanding and wisdom comes by the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus in the believers life. Through the New Covenant believers have the very wisdom of Christ in us and the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth.
Is is good to note that we all have freewill in this life and must make the right decesions daily. This is another important reason to read, study, hear, obey and apply God’s Word; for in it comes the wisdom and understanding of who God is and what He wants for our life today and eternity.
A life lived in obedience to the Word of God leads to a healthier and longer physical life and God will instill understanding into those that are seeking wisdom as they read, hear, obey and apply His Word in their everyday life.
Yes, the bible is full of wisdom, especially, Proverbs. It is well if all would read Proverbs on a continual basis for with the truth comes knowledge and wisdom; that of learning the very pathway to walk in obedience in life here on earth and thereafter.
Be blessed on this day, as always,
Love in Christ Jesus, Paul Lundmark
