Walking in the Light

This morning sitting in my back yard in the quietness of the early morning, and the opening of another day as the dawn of the morning light rises. I reflect on the greatness of light and truly what it means.

The scriptures tell us to walk as children of light. Christ is light and there is no darkness in Him. Darkness is compared to those who are dead, spiritually. You are not able to see without light. Spiritual darkness will ultimately effect the physical.

When your spirit, mind and soul refuses to allow the light of Christ into your hearts it is as though you are dead. You are walking as fools, dead to righteousness. The darkness of sin is everywhere. When the light of Christ arises in your thoughts, mind and spirit, the wisdom of Christ surfaces and darkness will fade.

There becomes an understanding of the very will of the Lord as the light arises in you. God gave us His Spirit so we can live in the light.

The Word of God, in Ephesians 5, compares that being drunk with wine in excess as being filled with the Spirit. When drunk with wine it will control you, in thoughts and action; in like manner we are told to continually be filled with the (wine) of the Holy Spirit. This is to be a continual filling, in which we are controlled by the Holy Spirit.

It is worthy to note that in this context the word “filled” is the same as “fulfilled”. We are fulfilled in Christ and through the working of the Holy Spirit in us. As a believer we have accepted Christ and the Holy Spirit into our hearts. We are being renewed daily, in our thoughts, mind and spirit as the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth. The light of Christ in every believer coming forth, as the dawning of a new day, arises.

Ephesians 5:19-21 illustrates what the Spirit-filled life will be; “melody in your heart”. Your life will be fruitful, “in all goodness and righteousness and truth”, active, understanding, joyful, thankful and submissive. Your life will also be bold in witnessing.

God’s very Word is what will continue to bring sanctification to “the church”. Reading God’s Word is to be a vital part in the believers life. Yes, the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us into all truth for understanding of His Word will become unvailed to those that desire the truth and the truth will continually set us free from all darkness.

When we are in the light there will be no darkness for darkness must flee. Christ is light and there us no darkness in Christ.

Let’s stay in Christ and walk as children in the light.

As always, love in Christ Jesus,

Paul Lundmark
