As I sit on the front porch my thoughts go to the peacefulness of this morning and how the peace of God surpasses our own understanding. God ‘s peace goes into a depth that we won’t understand until we are with Him in eternity. But I do believe as a Christian we can know a glimpse of that peace.
The world tries to find peace in and through everything they have. They look for peace or security in their jobs, bank accounts in their possessions and following after the worldly ways and their lifestyles for joy and peace. God has a different perspective where real joy and peace comes from. Let’s look into the scriptures for a moment for His answer for joy and peace.
As stated in Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice”. Through every situation in life we are to “remain in joy”. In other words, we are to remain in an abundance of joy, to rejoice and remain in a rejoicing spirit for the Lord is always “at hand” through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
We all will go through troubles in this life and during and through our troubles we are to remain joyful, rejoicing in our salvation.
As stated in verse 6, we are not to worry about nothing, but always be in pray about everything. Yes, we are to pray about all things, in “asking with thanksgiving let your requests be known”.
Verse 7 and 8, brings it home on this thought; “and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”.
This peace only comes in knowing the God of peace in our own lives. This is why their must be a relationship made with our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus and in doing so our Father God will get to know us through Christ Jesus.
When our thoughts and minds are on true, honest, just, pure; things that are lovely and things of good report then the God of peace will become the peace of God in our mind and hearts. Yes, praise and joy will become our focal point and the very peace of God will surround us in and through all our trouble. How precious is the love of God!
Through both the written and the spoken Word of God we learn to dwell on and do what is right and continue to be in right standing with our Heavenly Father, God; “and the God of peace shall be with you”.
It is assuring to know that God Himself is always with us, through Christ Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, leading, guiding and comforting us with His peace.
Rejoice in the Lord always. Have a blessed day! As always, love in Christ Jesus, Paul Lundmark.
