Knowledge – Wisdom

As I enjoy the early morning sunrise as I have for the past few days in my backyard, my thoughts and mind ponder over the greatness of God, our Creator and the Creator of the universe and all that is in it.

There is so much knowledge we can glean from books. I have heard it said that a college degree is the most important thing to have in this world. As I think about that statement I am reminded that the book or knowledge in the book is only as good as the writer.

In other words, did the writer obtain the correct facts through experience and or through others. Where did the source of the writing come from. The number one question of most importance… is the knowledge correct? …for through this knowledge our wisdom is formed through the thoughts placed in our minds making up our actions and playing out in our lives. Knowledge comes from everywhere.

I have heard it said that we need to have knowledge of the bad so we can gain wisdom from the bad to do good. This aspect of gaining wisdom through the bad is a dangerous perspective. I have heard it said that teenagers and young adults should be allowed to sow their wild seed (college years) and then they will settle down as mature adults.

This idea is straight from the devil. If Satan can get his evil, ungodly ways in your thoughts and mind they can easily transfer to your heart and control your actions, emotions and your deeds.

Yes, seeds are planted in our minds of all kinds of evil and wickedness in which God says to run from and not to have any part of. This would include reading about evilness and you might say, gaining knowledge from the evil but it can and so many times take root in your spirit. Curious minds can lead to destruction.

Remember, the information gain from the bad will always be with us in our thoughts mind and heart. As I once heard said, the past will come back to haunt us.

As I look into the Word of God for my knowledge and wisdom, I find no better place for answers than directly from my Creator, God Himself.

As I read in Proverbs 7:1-3, ” My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you. Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.”

The knowledge from God’s Word will bring wisdom into our very lives for eternity. God’s plan of Salvation is found in the saving knowledge of His Son, Jesus. All who finds Christ WILL find Knowledge and Wisdom. For true wisdom is only found in Christ Jesus.

So our first step you might say in finding life and its meaning is to find Christ. Christ Jesus is found simply by asking Him into your heart and desiring (making) Him your Savior and Lord. Simply opening our thoughts, mind, heart and soul to the saving knowledge of Jesus where our wisdom will come from.

I find Proverbs 8 very interesting in regards to wisdom.

Proverbs 8:1-21, (1-3)Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice? At the highest point along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand; beside the gate leading into the city, at the entrance, she cries aloud:

(4-5) To you, O people, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind. You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, set your hearts on it.

(6-9) Listen, for I have trustworthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right. My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness. All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse. To the discerning all of them are right; they are upright to those who have found knowledge.

(10-11) Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,  for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

12 “I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.

(13-16) To fear the Lord is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have insight, I have power. By me kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just; by me princes govern, and nobles—all who rule on earth.

17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

(18-22) With me are riches and honor,
enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice, bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasuries full. (NIV)

Yes, the very Words of the Bible are active and life to those who believe, accepts Christ Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

When you find Christ Jesus you will gain knowledge and find wisdom as you follow Him and His ways leads to the wisdom we all desire. Ultimately, eternity is ours with God our Creator when we follow His knowledge and His wisdom.

You might say knowledge brings us wisdom in so many ways. But to learn knowledge through our experiences so many times brings heart breaking results and consequences that will last for a life time. The wisdom learned through those bad situations are in no way necessary to find the truth in knowledge and wisdom.

As always, love in Christ Jesus,

Paul Lundmark
