Love NOT the World

Let me begin today’s thought with this…As I look through the front window of the camper all I see is rain, rain and more rain. It has rained from midnight lastnight and they are calling for more rain through out the day. There is a time for everything on the earth…rain…and than sunshine.

This morning as I think about the beauty of God’s Creation, the pleasures of the world and our accomplishments in this life; my thoughts go again to the scriptures where we are warned to be aware of the god of this world, Satan, and his deceptive ways.

I find a very interesting correlation between, 1 John 2:16, Genesis 3:6, James 3:15 and Luke 4:2-12. Let me explain.

1 John 2:15-16; Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.  For everything in the world—(16) the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

The scripture above in 1 John 2:16, we read listed three classes of temptations in the world in which Satan uses to keep our lives in bondage, or you might say under his control; they are as follows:

  1. The lust of the flesh (the body)
  2. The lust of the eyes (the soul)
  3. The pride of life (the spirit)

Satan has always and will always mix some truth with the false to persuade the people NOT to follow Godly principles and value. Satan has decieved the world in believing his lies in excepting ungodly practices as the normal. He uses the pleasures of life; the worlds platforms and agendas; such as one world government, self accomplishments, our own selfish desires and our own ways without the need of Christ as our Savior.

Satan’s ways, pactices, ideas and principles have become very effective for those who love the things of this world and follow the god of this world. Satan has a way of mixing and intertwining partial truth in persuading those who do not know the complete truth.

God, our Creator has given us a book of instructions for all to follow; and when we put aside His instructions it will ultimately bring distruction. Satan comes to lie, kill and distroy.

God, our Heavenly Father, has given us His Son, Christ Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to all who will accept and rereceive.

Yes, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit desires to live in us but WE must be willing to give up the world, (our worldy, carnal, selfish ways) and follow Him. Jesus died and resurrected to give us life to the fullest here, now and for eternity.

Those that are truly born again and following God’s instructions will not be decieved. The new age movements of today are blinded by Satan’s deceptive and deceiving ways; just as Adam and Eve listened to the serpent, Satan, appealing and persuasive way.

We too can become persuaded by Satan and his practices if we follow the wisdom of the world and our own selfish desires, as stated in James 3:15.“This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.”

Satan decieved Adam and Eve by convincing them to eat of the “forbidden fruit of –  good and evil” as stated in Genesis 3:6.

Again, here in Genesis 3:6, we see a threefold temptation being applied by the serpant, Satan, which became appealing to Adam and Eve inspite of God’s instruction NOT to partake of the fruit of good and evil.

Here are the three temptations Satan used:

  1. the body “good for food”
  2. the soul “pleasent to the eyes”
  3. the spirit “make one wise”

This was the same three types of temptations by which Satan appealed to Christ in the wilderness in Luke 4:2-12. Just as Christ used scriptures, the very Word of God to overcome Satan, so should we, when Satan approaches us with his appealing and deceptive ways.

When we accept God’s plan of salvation for our lives we must never turn back. We as followers of Christ, born-again believers, has the Father, God, Jesus His Son and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as our comforter and guide, leading us into all truth.

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior we must continue in the faith and in the truth of the Word of God with all diligence. Satan can not and will not have his way in the lives of those who follow the truth, the instructions found in God’s Word.

I like to look at God’s Word as our instruction manual in life to keep us on the straight and narrow pathway to heaven.

Our relationship with God will take both prayer (communication with God) and reading His Word.

When we read, follow, obey and apply His Word, our faith becomes strong and we become as a living Epistle, being read by the world and for God’s use and purpose in the Kingdom of God.

We must not allow the wisdom of this world to be more important than the Wisdom of our Heavenly Father, God. God’s wisdom can only be found in the love of Christ Jesus.

If you have not accepted Jesus into your heart, maybe it’s time, right now to open the door to your heart and let Him in. He is willing and ready with opened arms to recieve you into His Kingdom. Repent from your sins, turn from your old carnal ways and allow the love of Christ Jesus to wash away all your sin.

He is full of mercy and a forgiving God. His righteousness will began to take root as you grow into the saving knowledge of your new born Lord and Savior.

As you begin to walk in His ways and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, you will be drawn in a daily relationship with your new found Master, Lord and Savior.

You will call Him your Father and He will call you His child!

As always, love in Christ Jesus,
Paul Lundmark
