The Holy Spirit – Coming Alive – our Promise, our Inheritance, for Today into Eternity – from Ephesians

What an exciting time in our lives as a believer. This morning I would like to continue my daily thoughts in Ephesians. When we are obedient to God and receive His plan of salvation we are guaranteed the Holy Spirit as our teacher and guide through this life, our helper in times of trouble.

Please insert your name in the parentheses, as I have, replaced my name as an example.

Ephesians 1:13 – 14 (NLT) And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when (Paul) believed in Christ, he identified (Paul) as his own by giving (Paul) the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give (Paul) the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased (Paul) to be his own people. He did this so (Paul) would praise and glorify him. God gave us the promise of the Holy Spirit.

The presence of the Holy Spirit within us is the guarantee that He will give us all that God has promised, which also includes bringing us to Himself.

Pray with me this prayer; “Father, you gave us the Holy Spirit to make your Scriptures come alive so that we may know all things that You have in store for us. How thankful I am for your promises. We adore you and we praise you. Amen”

Ephesians 1:15 – 18 (NLT) Ever since I first heard of (Paul’s) strong faith in the Lord Jesus and (Paul’s) love for God’s people everywhere, I have not stopped thanking God for (Paul). I pray for (Paul) constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give (Paul) spiritual wisdom and insight so that (Paul) might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that (Paul’s) heart will be flooded with light so that (Paul) can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

Do you accept this promise? God has been made rich because of (you)…. yes, and (you) have been made rich because of what (He) has done in your life.

Take this promise and receive it with joy. Ephesians 2:1 – 6 (NLT) Once (Paul) (was) dead because of (Paul’s) disobedience and (Paul’s) many sins. (Paul) use to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved (Paul) so much, that even though (Paul) (was) dead because of (Paul’s) sins, he gave (Paul) life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised (Paul) from the dead along with Christ and seated (Paul) with him in the heavenly realms because (Paul) (is) united with Christ Jesus.

Yes, how so true this scripture is…I was spiritually dead and doomed by my own sins, and yet His mercy was so rich and so great He gave me life again because of Jesus. He raised you and me up into heavenly places day by day. Isn’t life fabulous!

Are you living in disobedience to Godly ways?

Ask for forgiveness, repent and turn from ungodly ways –Follow Jesus…

Ephesians 3:17 – (NLT) Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as (Paul) trust in him. (Paul’s) roots will grow down into God’s love and keep (Paul) strong. And may (Paul) have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May (Paul) experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then (Paul) will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within (Paul), to accomplish infinitely more than (Paul) might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever!

The scripture is clear…God wants to live IN and THROUGH you. It is not for us to try to live the Christian life on our own because nobody can live the Christian life on there own…but God wants to LIVE IN and THROUGH YOU.

God is simply saying, “Would you just get yourself out of the way, and give Me YOU, and let Me have your mind, your spirit and your body to speak to and through.” You don’t have to understand…Just believe His Word!

Yes, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit has taken up residence in ever born-again believe. We don’t have to understand everything. Faith in Christ Jesus is a growing process in which, you might say, is a life long experience.

As always, love in Jesus Christ,
Paul Lundmark
