The Church, “the people” must be unified together as one, for God’s purpose. This comes through our daily walk with God, dying out of our own will.
God so made us that as a believer, we can speak to our mind, our emotions and our will to line up with our new spirit, His Spirit.
Again let me say, to become in “unity” with Christ individually, we as believers must keep our mind, emotions and will in line with God’s will. This only can be done by listening/ reading His Word and through praying in the Spirit We are to walk this life in God’s will, not our will.
As a born-again, spirit filled believer, we receive a new spirit. Christ came to heal our mind, our emotions and our will. When our mind, emotions and will, line up to our new spirit our soul begins to change into the man and woman that God created us for.
This relationship with God in Christ Jesus is a life long experience. Taking up our own cross and dying out daily, crucifying our mind, emotions and our own will with the will of our Father, God, will bring unity to the WHOLE BODY.
When the people become unified in belief and faith as one in Christ Jesus; God’s kingdom advances!
Just as in the book of Acts in the Bible, miracles, signs and wonders begin to happen. When Christ is in us and we are in Christ GREAT things begin to happen for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
“Unity” is that of our whole body working in harmony with the will of God. When our individual body works together in “harmony”, our mind, body and soul with our Spirit and we as believers come together in “unity” with each other we become as “one”.
An example in the Bible was when they were building the tower of Babel. They were one nation, unified together for one purpose, their own purpose.
God caused this one unified nation to be broken into many nations (one language broken into many), throwing every one into confusion – resulting in a loss of power and purpose.
In Acts Chapter two, we see how God unified the people and brought them together for His purpose (this came to be known as Pentecost).
Many nations and tongues were represented but they were unified for one purpose and those present were able to experience an outpouring of the power of God’s Spirit.
Yes, the believers were in “unity” with each other and worked in harmony with the will of God. Signs and wonders followed the believers.
- Acts 2:12 (NLT) They stood there amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean?” they asked each other.
- In Acts 2:41 – 42 (NLT) Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all. All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.
Just as in the day of Pentecost, the various “tongues” that were spoken were languages known in that day so is “tongues” that of languages known somewhere in the world today.
The Gift of tongues, spoken of in Acts is for every believer whom would believe and is a language between man and God. The will of God going forth.
Simply put, the gift of tongues is supernatural utterance by the Holy Spirit spoken through a believer in a language, which the believer has never learned.
The message through tongues is from both the heart of man and God working together as one, unified and in harmony with each other. This is the very will of God!
God’s GIFT to the believer…
- the very POWER of God…
- unified and in harmony,
- working in us…
- through us
- and among us.
This gift is to all for all. This gift will help the believer keep his/her relationship and communication opened with God the Father and continue to bring us in unity and in harmony with each other.
As always, love in Chtist Jesus,
