The Classifications of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit

This morning let me make it perfectly clear; the Holy Spirit is not a thing. He is part of the Godhead; Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. He is the Person of the Holy Spirit. All three working together AS ONE.

God gave the believers a New Spirit and through this New Spirit we see manifestations of the the Holy Spirit in God’s Word given to each believer.

These various Gifts and “special abilities” are given by the Holy Spirit to whom He chooses and when He chooses.

As a believer we are to live, move and have our being in Christ. In other words, our heart and lives are to be open and available for the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works and flows through the consecrated vessel stemmed from our daily walk with God.

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are both “spiritual” and “manifestations” as stated in: 1 Corinthians. 12:4-11. Every believer should have at least one of the manifestations (gifts) as stated in 1 Cor. 12:7, NIV: “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.”

The nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit can be placed in three general Classifications of the Gifts.

First, The Gifts of Revelation, or the Mind-Gifts,
1. The gift of the word of wisdom.
2. The gift of the word of knowledge.
3. The gift of discerning of spirits.

Second, The Gifts of Inspiration, or the Vocal Gifts.
4. The gift of prophecy.
5. The gift of divers kinds of tongues or languages.
6. The gift of the interpretation of tongues or languages.

Third, The Gifts of Power, or the Working Gifts.
7. The gift of faith.
8. The gift of healing.
9. The gift of the working of miracles.

Remember, these gifts represents the work of God and what He does through the life of a believer in a given situation to demonstrate His supernatural power pointing to the Gospel, for encouraging and building up the church, the believer.

These Gifts are given to you through God’s grace, BY FAITH. Faith is given by the Word of God and built upon the Word of God. True faith is alive, active in the Word and to be acted upon.

Yes, His promises are truth, to be walked out in our daily lives.

Another way to say this; faith is an act in which we must put our faith into action!

Our daily relationship with God opens the doorway to the various Gifts of the Holy Spirit given by God and distributed by the Holy Spirit.

As believers, we must come to an understanding in the meaning and purpose of these various Gifts of the Holy Spirit. In like manner, we are to desire these Gifts and “special abilities” of the Holy Spirit, through much prayer, a vessel for God’s use.

God’s Word says to “covet” these Spiritual Gifts. These Gifts are given to the believers to do the works of Jesus, in the power and might of the Holy Spirit.

In other words; God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit being active and alive in every believer.  These Gifts are necessary for all believers to combat Satans deceptive ways.

Today, let’s began to ask, seek, knock and desire these wonderful Gifts – For God said He would not refuse anything good, especially these Gifts, to His children.

Let’s begin TODAY to walk in the “fullness” of His Spirit. Yes – a people after God’s own heart!

As always, love in Christ Jesus,
Paul Lundmark
