This morning my thoughts go to the power of Christ. Before Jesus sent the twelve disciples out He gave them (power/ authority) over all the powers of this world, Satan.
In like manner, this same Jesus, now in us/ the believer. We will walk in this same authority/ power as the Holy Spirit leads and guides us into this truth. As we follow His leading we are empowered to do His work for we are lead, guided and directed by His authority.
A question to ponder: Have you accepted Jesus Christ into your heart?
This question is of the utmost importance in which all will need to answer. It will make a difference in this life and the life hereafter.
If you have not made Jesus you Savior, NOW would be a good time. Salvation is a free gift from God to those who desire to have fellowship with God. Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, will bring about a new beginning in your life and build your relationship with God for eternity. Their is only one way to God and to heaven. The cross made the way. God’s plan of salvation. Christ was and is our salvation.
Let’s take a moment and ponder the very meaning of Christ in us!
- God’s Salvation Plan was to get Christ in us. The way of the cross was the means of bringing man into a relationship with God and keeping sin out. God’s Salvation Plan, the Gospel, was to bring Christ to live in man.
- The infilling of the Holy Spirit was and is given to every born again believer who desires Him and is the means for the righteous of Christ to work in us working good things in us. In other words, the righteous of Christ in us, working through us and flowing through us. Yes, the power to witness and become a witness of the saving power of Christ in the believer.
Here is another way to look at the above: Christ, going to the the cross, brought us these 2 steps:
Step 1: The cross gave us the means to receive Jesus into our hearts, allows Jesus to become Lordship of our life and guarantees us eternal life with God as we follow and obey His Word. Asking Jesus in our hearts, repenting of our sin, turning from our sin and beginning a new life in Christ. This is to be our 1st step.
Step 2: After Salvation, it was God’s plan to fill the born again believer with His Spirit, the Holy Spirit.
Simply put; to be filled with the Holy Spirit, will take yielding and surrendering one’s self, asking and desiring to be filled with the Holy Spirit. God has promised to fill all who will ask in faith and they will receive the infilling of this precious gift.
This gift for all born again believers, will take you from Christ in you, to Christ flowing out of you. The very power and boldness to become witnesses of Christ, touching the lost and hurting in this world.
One must be alert to Satan’s deceptive practices. Daily prayer and reading God’s Word, dying out to self daily, will help keep us focused on our daily walk, relationship with God. The Holy Spirit will teach, guide and lead us into all truth.
Power is the one thing many Christians lack and yet, Jesus gave this “power/ authority” to the believer and is available to all who receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Applying the Word of God in our life is the key that, you might say, unlocks this miracle working power of Christ in us.
I believe this same “authority” “power” “strength” is available to every believer, today, but it will take both the infilling of the Holy Spirit and obedience to God’s Word as we are under the authority of Christ Himself through the power of the Holy Spirit working in us.
- Matthew 10:1 (NKJV) “And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.”
What was this “power” that was given? It is not “our power” or “our authority”. Simply put: It is Christ in us flowing through us.
“Power” in this passage is not dunamis, but the Greek word exousia,ex-oo-see’-ah meaning (in the sense of ability); privilege, that is, (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence: authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength.
Jesus literally gives the believer “power” under His authority to do the very things He did when He was here on earth. To truly walk in the power that Christ has given us as a believer, we must first learn to walk in and under authority, as an heir to the righteousness of God, an heir to the divine nature of God!
As always, love in Christ Jesus,
