Let’s continue from yesterday on the theme of abiding in Christ.
The scriptures in 1 John 2 tells us of the importance of “abiding in Christ” and the importance of receiving the infilling of the Holy Spirit after we are born-again, which will guide, teach and warn us of the things to come.
1 John 2:24 – 28 (NLT) So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us. I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.
Let me encourage you today to abide in Christ. If we allow the Word of God to abide in us, the Holy Spirit, the anointing of God will surface in our prayers, blessing our prayers and actions, becoming fruitful in all we do.
As the scripture states if we “abide”, “remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.”
Again let me state that obedience is a key element in “abiding in Christ”,
- 1 John 3:24 (NLT) Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.
Remaining in fellowship (unity) with our maker, God our Father, should be of the uttermost importance in our life.
This will take an active relationship, a life of watchfulness, obedience, abiding in Christ; allowing the Spirit to lead, guide and teach us all things that of following the truth and not lies.
This is the purpose of the Holy Ghost (the Holy Spirit) concerning the truth in all things. I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit in my life.
My Spirit cries out… “not my will (my life) but yours” Father God! This, I believe is God’s very purpose in creating mankind, for God’s pleasure, His Spirit flowing through us; a life of fruit bearing for His Kingdom.
Jesus stated in John 15:16 (NLT) “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name”.
As we stay fixed, immovable, “abiding in Christ”; no matter what situation or state you are in, we can be assured that God is with you, Christ is with us, in us, and we are as one.
God is always faithful! What a wonderful thought! The great “I am”, the almighty, the first and the last is with us.
Yes, “abiding in Christ” means everything to me…let it mean everything to you. It’s the best place to be.
As always, love in Christ Jesus,
