This morning my thoughts continue on being prepared in today’s world for that which so besets us. It truly is a different time and season for America and the world.
It is of the utmost importance to rely on God and His work in us. We are to trust in the finished work of Christ as our Savior. He has given us the Holy Spirit to be our helper in these troubled times. We need His help and must rely on His direction in all that we do.
Jesus came not only to give us eternal life but also to save us from Satan’s deceptive practices. Believing in Christ is what the “born-again” experience is all about.
Preperation is a key to being not caught by surprise or an unguarded moment. God has given us tools as believers to overcome Satan and his deceptive ways.
Jesus is “the way, the truth and the life.” Christ came to give us “life and life more abundantly.” Salvation is to be a life changing experience, from day to day, moment to moment, forever. This includes winning over Satan in all areas of our life. Jesus already won the battle over Satan for us over 2000 years ago.
It’s as simple as believing and receiving. Don’t misunderstand, the Christian life will have its times of testing, trials and troubles. Knowing who you/ we are in Christ Jesus will help you/ us win over the attacks of Satan.
Faith in Christ is that of knowing Him (building a relationship) thru Bible study, prayer and applying the promises of God’s Word in your everyday living. The Christian life is a life in Christ keeping our defenses up against the works of Satan by putting on the whole armor of God.
We must always have our defenses in place if we are to overtake and win an attack from Satan. In other words, be on your guard at ALL times.
The Holy Spirit leads, guides and directs the believer into all truth. I truly believe the Holy Spirit gives all believers discernment to know right from wrong, good from evil and the way to go.
As we follow His leading from day to day, or you might say, from moment to moment, we will become the vessel for which He has designed us to be.
Apostle Paul in Ephesians chapter 6 speaks of the very weapons the believer is to put on for combat and preparation for warfare against Satan.
What does God say in His Word about these mighty weapons?
- 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NLT) We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
- Ephesians 6:10 – 18 (NLT) A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good New so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
- Colossians 3:12(NLT) Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
- Matthew 15:19 (NLT) For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.
To put on God’s armor we must repent, surrender our canal, fleshly sinful ways to God and allow the Holy Spirit to be in command of every area of our lives. There must be no sin found in us. Allow God’s Spirit to cleanse us.
Another very important factor in being prepared for an attack of Satan is that of “the church” the people, being unified together as one. “Unity” is that of working in harmony with each other as one.
An example in the Bible was when they were building the tower of Babel. They were one nation, unified together for one purpose, their own purpose.
God caused this one unified nation to be broken into many nations (one language broken into many), throwing every one into confusion – resulting in a loss of power and purpose.
When the “church” the “people” unite together for the cause of Christ, there becomes greater power. It’s as though being unified as a people brings God on the scene.
Be prepared to BE THAT VESSEL for His use.
As always, love in Christ Jesus,
