This morning, I am drawn to a very interesting subject in 1st Peter chapter 1 and 2. In this life, we will go through the trial of our faith for the perfecting of our faith, so also we read the necessity to “gird up the loins of your mind (prepare your minds for action), be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ…” Jesus says to “be ye holy, as I am holy” this includes in all manner of conversation”, thought and action.
This is another reason to think (dwell) only on things that are of good report…not giving room for satan to use your mind for ungodly thoughts which will lead into your heart and soul.
We all will have trials, tests, troubles and tribulations for this is God’s way in trying our faith similar to that of trying gold and silver in fire. Bringing forth the perfection in the believer by the trying of their faith. I truly believe everything conceived both good and bad starts in the mind and so what we allow or you might say (dwell on) in our minds will take root in the heart of man. This is why the importance to (protect, gird up, guard) the mind of our very heart and soul.
Love is to be in and through all things. Forgiving others must be of top priority. Offenses, hurts and harsh words will be spoken of you, inevitably they will happen, for satan knows if he can mess with your mind he can enter your very heart and soul; but we are warned to be prepared for these offenses, for by these will be the trying of your faith.
We have been redeemed by the “precious blood of Christ” and now being born-again, we do believe in Christ Jesus; so that our faith and hope be in God. Our souls are being purified by obeying the truth of the Word through the Spirit for the Holy Spirit teaches and guides us into all truth. We are to sincerely love our brother and love one another with a pure heart, fervently (deeply, from the heart).
Christ is in us and as we come to Him, we are to be like Christ, “a living stone, being built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ”.
What are consider these “spiritual sacrifices” of the New Covenant. Looking back in the Old Testament sacrifices, they were to be a permanent thing or offering given unto God. Just as today, these spiritual sacrifices are to be a permanent thing in the believers life, ongoing, not just for a time or season.
As always, love in Christ Jesus,
