Mighty Weapons We Are to Put On

God has given us all we need to live in this life written in His Word. The key to living successful in this life is to apply what is revealed to us from His Word. Another way to say this is to be a doer of the Word.

As we believe and trust in His Word, we must be obedient to what God reveals, this includes applying to what we know is truth. Our life is to be a life of faith in our living Savior, from start to finish.

The Christian life is a life in Christ, keeping our defenses up against the works of Satan. We must always have our defenses in place if we are to overtake and win an attack from Satan.

In other words, be on your guard at ALL TIMES. Be prepared to take action when God speaks. Apostle Paul in Ephesians chapter 6 speaks of the very weapons the believer is to put on for combat and preparation for warfare against Satan.

The Bible tells us what weapons we must use to combat Satan in times of attack.

Let’s read some of them: We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.

You might say, God gave us prayer, the Word of God, and worship as weapons to fight the “good fight of faith”.  As stated in the Bible, “the fervent prayer of the righteous availth much.”

Here listed are mighty weapons we are to put on; Ephesians 6:14-18; “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

  • Colossians 3:12 (NLT) “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

  • Matthew 15:19 (NLT) “For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.”

To put on God’s armor we must repent of all known sin, surrender our carnal, fleshly sinful ways to God and allow the Holy Spirit to be in command of every area of our lives. Allow God’s Spirit to cleanse us.

Being steadfast in the faith knowing Jesus as our Lord and Savior is what will take to keep us in Christ and live a victorious  life until Jesus comes back.

As always, love in Christ Jesus,
