As I woke up this morning, my thoughts were on what it means to believe. There is a difference between believing in the Bible and believing the Bible.
There are many who say they believe in Jesus. But the greater question is do you believe Jesus.
To believe is to accept as true or real; to have faith, confidence or trust. To believe is to have confidence in the truth, value, or existence of something.
To believe the Bible is to believe it is more than just another book with just words or stories on a page. It is more than accepting it as true. To believe the Bible is knowing that it is alive and active.
- Do you believe Jesus was born from a virgin?
- Do you believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus?
- Do you accept this Jesus as the truth and His saving power as real?
- Do you believe Jesus’ blood washes away all our sin.
- Do you have faith, confidence and trust in Jesus Christ and His Work done through the cross at Calvary?
- Do you value the Words and existence of the Bible?
- Do you have the confidence of it to be the truth, the life and the way?
So, if you believe the Bible you will believe what it says. Yes, salvation has come to you. Isaiah 53:4-6 (KJV) Surely He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
Spiritual healing is available and a must for all to receive in this life and the life hereafter, Eternal Life and a relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
As you begin to study the very meaning of these scriptures taken in context we see that Jesus will heal [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]. Yes, He died that we can be saved, now, today and for Eternity.
Another translation says it this way, Isaiah 53:4-6 (AMP) But [in fact] He has borne our griefs, And He has carried our sorrows and pains; Yet we [ignorantly] assumed that He was stricken, Struck down by God and degraded and humiliated [by Him]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, We have turned, each one, to his own way; But the Lord has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing] To fall on Him [instead of us].
To believe the Bible is to place our complete trust in all that Jesus did for us, at the cross. Jesus went to the cross; bore every stripe on his back for our transgressions and our infirmities . He shed His blood to forgive, all our sins. Do you believe? Salvation has come. It is finished!
All this and more is what it means to believe. The key to receiving what you need is to have faith, yes, to believe, to trust and receive.
Ephesians 1:7 (NLT) He is so rich in kindness that he purchased our freedom through the blood of his Son, and our sins are forgiven.
As a believer we must use (or apply) the faith that we have. Satan is always trying to destroy our faith with lies. You cannot allow doubt and unbelief to creep into your mind.
It will destroy the faith that you have if you allow it to fester within your mind. Jesus defeated Satan in all areas of His life and SO CAN WE!
Here are some examples that Jesus came to give us all that we need here on earth.
Jesus said in Mark 9:23 (NLT) “What do you mean,‘If I can? Anything is possible if a person believes.”
Again in Mark 11:24 (NLT) Jesus said, “Listen to me! You can pray for anything, and if you believe, you will have it.”
God has given all mankind a choice to choose right from wrong; good from evil. To make this choice we must know the truth and the truth will set us free.
If you believe Jesus and you believe the Bible then you will believe that the truth comes from God’s Word and knowing who Christ Jesus is.
Jesus said, in John 14:6, “I am the truth.” To make the right choice we must believe the right thing. To believe Jesus is to believe the truth. When we choose to believe Jesus we are saying we believe His Word, the Bible; for Jesus said He was and is the Word, the truth and the life.
As stated earlier, to believe is to have trust, confidence in something. When you say you believe Jesus, you are actually saying that you have confidence, trust and faith in Him and His Word, which is the Word of God, the Bible.
As always, love in Christ Jesus,
