08/16 – To Know the Heart of God

May today’s thoughts help bring us into a greater desire to know the heart of God through Christ Jesus.

God’s glory is shown to man through Christ…the very light of God’s glory.

What is the heart of Christ? Jesus had a love and compassion for people. The Scriptures tell us in Mark’s gospel, that after Jesus taught and healed the multitudes, they became hungry.

In His compassion, Christ personally cared for the multitude by teaching them the Word (the truth), healing them of their physical conditions and caring enough for them to feed the hungry.

God cares for His children. In His compassion He saw them as “sheep without a shepherd”.

Mark 6:34-37 A vast crowd was there as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he taught them many things. Late in the afternoon his disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and it is getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the nearby farms and villages and buy themselves some food.” But Jesus said, “You feed them.” “How much food do you have?” he asked. “Go and find out.” They came back and reported, “We have five loaves of bread and two fish.” Then Jesus told the crowd to sit down in groups on the green grass. As the story is told here in the scriptures, Jesus blessed the five loaves of bread and two fish and feed the multitudes. And when they were all fed there were twelve baskets left over.

We are to follow the example of Christ and have the love and compassion of Christ. We as believers, need to begin using what we have and by faith, bless and start meeting the very needs of those we are ministering to. As believers we are to have the compassion of Christ…for if Christ is in us and we are in Christ then we have the authority to “do the things He did and more”.

John 14:12 “The truth is, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. “If Christ is for us who can be against us”.

Romans 8:30-32 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And he gave them right standing with himself, and he promised them his glory. What can we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else? Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love.

The compassion of Christ was always for others…especially those that were weak and left out or ignored. Do you have a deep desire to know the heart of Christ? Oh to know and to have the heart of Jesus Christ!

Jesus reached out to those in poverty, those with physical illness and all human sufferings. It’s time we all reach deep within ourselves and begin to know who we are in Christ.

If I am in Christ and Christ is in me, than we are one. If this is so, than I should have the very love and compassion of Christ. Is this not Christ like?

As always, love in Christ Jesus,
Paul Lundmark
