Blessings given to Believers (Beatitudes)

This morning… I was reading in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 5, the reference what is known as the Sermon on the Mount. It is of importance to note, that Jesus was speaking only to His disciples. These were believers and followers of Christ and those who were obedient to the Word of God.

Another note to keep in mind, “Christ came not to destroy the law but to fulfill the law”, as stated in Matthew 5:17.

In these scriptures and the beatitudes which they are called, are consider to be the believers guidelines for the pursuit of happiness. The guidelines are truly opposite of the ungodly (worldly) views and lifestyle.

The Beatitudes…as listed in Matthew 5:3-11, He said: These laws and others are to be guidelines for happiness in this world and rewards in the future world for those who are and were believers in Christ. For both Jew and Gentile (believer and non-believer) one’s eternal salvation is based on faith in the Word of God and His work of redemption, not on obedience to moral laws, but it is worthy to note obedience will follow the believer.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.”

Let’s continue on in verse 12 -16, in theses verses Christ tells the believers who they are and the reward waiting for believers in Heaven:

12 “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

14 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

How exciting to know that as believers in Christ we have the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in us, flowing through us, leading and guiding us into all truth. We have the truth living in us and the truth must flow from us.

The world will see the Christ in us as believers when we have consecrated and devoted our whole being, mind, body, spirit and soul to Christ, not to look back at the old life but we are to live in the new life for we are made a new creature in Christ Jesus.

As the above scripture states in verse 16; “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”.

Yes,I count it all joy and a privilege to serve a risen Savior, for in Him I move, live and have my being. As I come to the conclusion about life in itself, I truly feel as Apostle Paul did, “for me to live is Christ, to die is gain”.

Thank you Lord Jesus, my Savior, my Redeemer for sheding your blood on Calvary for my sins and the sins of the world to whom the gift of salvation is freely given and to whom will believe and receive the risen Savior, Jesus Christ, into their heart and souls.

My prayer today for all reading this letter is to be the example and live the life of Christ; “Christ in us the hope of Glory; for the world is watching and in need of a Savior, the very Christ living in every believer.

You can be sure we all will choose one or the other, the god of this world (satan) or the God of the universe, our Heavenly Father and Creator.

Here are our choices: We choose the god of this world by living in our sins and lost for eternity for we will live in eternal damnation in hell with satan and his demons or we can choose the God of the universe by turning from and repenting of our sins and live an eternity in Heaven with God. When we choose Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we are choose the God of the universe and eternal life with him.

When you believe in your heart, God’s Redemption plan for all mankind: believe by faith, in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and confess with your mouth Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you become a new creature in Christ.

Yes, a born-again believer, a “Christian” and follower of Christ. You now have a new future and an eternity to spend with your Creator.

Be blessed in this day, as always,

LOVE IN Christ Jesus,
Paul Lundmark
