January 1: The New Year Brings High Expectations

Let’s begin this NEW YEAR and this morning’s thought on the importance of right thinking. It is of great importance to cast down every high thing: as stated in 2 Corinthians 10:5, We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ (NLT).

God has given us authority over the principalities of this world. Yes…Satan is defeated and is under our feet as a believer. Our soul is in the hands of Almighty God. Remember…in all that we do, we must never allow it to build a proud monument to ourselves, but all that we do must always point to Jesus…the very cause of our existence.

His Kingdom comes on earth as it is in heaven. Yes…salvation is available to the lost and hurting of this world. Genesis 11:1-4 At one time, all the people of the world spoke the same language and used the same words. As the people migrated to the east, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there. They began saying to each other, “Let’s make bricks and harden them with fire.” (In this region bricks were used instead of stone, and tar was used for mortar.) 4 Then they said, “Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.” (NLT).

As I rise early this morning, my thoughts go to the beginning of this NEW YEAR, you might say, a new start, A NEW BEGINNING. As I sip my morning cup of coffee and break bread from God’s Word, my prayer is for the blessings and favor of God to follow you throughout this NEW YEAR!

Let me encourage everyone to start this NEW YEAR with God in mind. Start the NEW YEAR, making Jesus your Lord and Savior if you have not yet made that decision. The born-again experience is a guarantee to the believer of Eternity with Him.

When we accept Christ, we accept His guidance and leading, yes, His Spirit, a new spirit lives in us to do His will. Every day, look for your Lord to guide you with the very power of the Holy Spirit in all truth and righteousness. Christ must be all in all. May Jesus be your awaking thoughts, your daily thoughts, and your closing thoughts of the day! May the blessings and favor of God follow you throughout this New Year!
