January 3: Obedience to the TRUTH

In today’s thoughts, may I continue in the truth of the Gospel? Deception of the truth comes in many forms. Obedience to God will bring light to deception. In 2 Corinthians 10:5, we are told of three ways to get rid of deception in one’s life:

1. “Casting down imaginations,
2. and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God,
3. and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”

In a commentary, it was stated like this…In the Greek word rendered “imaginations,” we have the noun derived from the verb rendered “think,” or reckon. Bringing into captivity every thought.—the verb is used by Apostle Paul again in Romans 6:23; 2 Timothy 3:6. There is no doubt that “the obedience of Christ “means “obedience to Christ.” The Bible, the Word, is both “logos” written and “rehma” spoken, Word of God. We can conclude that obedience to Christ consists of obedience to His Word, the Bible. This is why knowing God’s Word must become a vital part of our mind: body, soul, and spirit. Knowing Christ will only happen by reading, studying, and applying His Word.

Let me encourage every believer to read the Bible and get to know God’s Word for yourself, and in doing so, you will get to know Jesus.

We get to know God and Jesus through His Word. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”  Yes, knowing the Word of God is critical in living a victorious life. Satan has deceived believers today in thinking that the Bible is not important and that by keeping them so busy with the things and cares of life that they do not take time to read the Word of God.

Remember, God gave us His Word to obey and to live by. Yes, His Word is His will for our life. The truth will set us free, but if we don’t know the truth, we will not be free. Jesus Christ is the Word, and the Word is Jesus Christ. When you have the Word in you, you have Christ Jesus in you.

Do you see it? The Word and Christ are one of the same. The Word of God is of the utmost importance in the believer’s life. The Word will build our faith to believe in the impossible. The impossible becomes possible through the Word. We now become the very being in which God created us, an instrument or you might say, a vessel for His purpose and His use. Read, believe, and receive, apply God’s Word, the Bible.

When you have Jesus and His Word, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Yes, anything is possible! When you believe you will receive it, it is a promise from God!
