This morning we will look at a few of the examples from the Psalmist that literally bring out this importance of meditating and praying God’s Word: Psalms 5:1-3, O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you. Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning, I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly (NLT).
Psalms 19:14, May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer (NLT).
Psalms 49:3, For my words are wise, and my thoughts are filled with insight (NLT).
Psalms 119:97-99, Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long. Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are my constant guide. Yes, I have more insight than my teachers, for I am always thinking of your laws (NLT).
Psalms 104:33 – 34, I will sing to the LORD as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the LORD (NLT).
Psalms 119:48, I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees (NLT).
Psalms 143:5, I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done (NLT).
Psalms 63:6-8, I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely (NLT).
Psalms 119:15 – 16, I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your decrees and not forget your word (NLT).
Psalms 119:24 – 25, Your laws please me; they give me wise advice. I lie in the dust; revive me by your word (NLT).
God’s Word is powerful, and it will make our prayers powerful, too. As the scripture’s states, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. In 2 Timothy 3:16 “The Word of God is active and powerful and when written in our hearts become the food and fuel that will nourish our prayer“ (NLT).
The promises stored in our hearts will make our prayers living and active as though from the very mouth of God. Paul also reflects this in Hebrews 4:12, for the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires (NLT).
Remember this, God’s Word will never return unto Him void when it is prayed in full earnestness; its purpose must be genuine and from the heart. Isaiah 55:10-1, states, “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth.” They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to. It will prosper everywhere I send it (NLT).
May you be that vessel that God uses to send out His Word, yes, His Promises revealed and producing fruit! Praise be to God!
