Early Life and Family
Paul V. Lundmark was born in the summer of 1954 to Alfred and Lucille Lundmark in Kankakee, Illinois. Paul’s father passed away when Paul was just five years old, leaving his mother to raise their eleven children. Paul is the ninth of eleven siblings and shares his birthday with his twin sister, Kathy.
Spiritual Foundation
Paul’s mother was a woman of deep faith, grounded in her relationship with God through daily prayer and Bible reading. Her example profoundly influenced Paul’s own spiritual journey, instilling in him a love for God from a young age. Eventually, Paul chose to pursue his faith independently, stepping out from under his mother’s guidance to follow and serve God for himself.
School Years and Musical Pursuits
During his school years, Paul was actively involved in both his grade school and high school bands. The trumpet became an important part of his life, and he continued to play for many years.
Career at the United States Postal Service
Paul attended college and started working part-time for the United States Postal Service (USPS), eventually deciding to make it his career. He spent most of his working years as a letter carrier in Kankakee, Illinois. Through his work, Paul witnessed many moments where God intervened in the lives of others, and he often found opportunities to pray with those in need, offering both spiritual and physical support.
Church Leadership and Service
Paul devoted many years to playing the trumpet in his church band. In his early thirties, he led the “Royal Rangers,” a church group for boys aged 10 to 18, mentoring young members—including his two sons—for several years. He and his wife also served as youth leaders. Later, in his forties, Paul taught an adult Sunday School class and led prayer meetings in the church sanctuary.
Achievements and Retirement
After 35 years of service, Paul was inducted into “The MILLION MILE CLUB,” an honor recognizing a million miles walked as a mail carrier. At age 60, with 41 years of service, he retired.
Family and Personal Life
Paul met his wife, Gleneva, at the age of nineteen in 1973, marrying her in 1976. They are blessed with three children—two boys and one girl—and eight granddaughters.
Reflections
In retirement, Paul enjoys reading and studying the Bible, writing books, and spending time with Gleneva. He reflects gratefully on his life: “Life has been good to us. Yes, God has been with us through our tests, trials, and troubles, but God has been faithful! His love endures! At the end of our lives may it be said both of you and I, thou good and faithful servant.” He concludes, as always, with love in Christ Jesus, Paul.
