God Answered

Time flies swiftly by. In 2004, my daughter was a fifteen-year-old growing into a beautiful young woman. One night, while praying for her, I fervently asked God to bring a respectful young man into her life.

Within a few weeks, my daughter, alongside her cousin and friend, encountered a handsome young man at K-Mart, busy stocking the milk. After several sightings, they left a note on his truck, as my daughter found him quite attractive and wished to know him better.

Following a phone call, she invited him to meet us. He was indeed handsome and courteous. After several meetings, I inquired about his faith. Despite my initial concerns, I remembered my prayer for a respectful young man. He was nothing but polite and respectful. I prayed once more, seeking guidance. The response was clear: remember your request and observe.

He started attending church with us, moved by the genuine praise and worship he witnessed from my daughter. Longing for the same, he embraced faith, accepting Jesus into his life, becoming a changed man with a renewed heart and a fervent desire to serve God. His interest shifted from partying to pursuing a deeper connection with God, and I was thrilled to see him being used by God at school.

After high school, he pursued college. He courted Amy for five years and married her in 2009. Nick was indeed an answer to my prayers, exceeding all my expectations. I often jest that he’s an angel sent by God, which he humbly dismisses. To me, he will forever be my third son, a true blessing to Gleneva and myself.
