Here is a personal reflection on Christ’s love and compassion. Jesus demonstrated His love and compassion for humanity by sharing love, God, and life itself. He was committed and continues to grant new life, a new heart, and a new spirit upon humanity.
A few years back, in 2007, while I was on my USPS mail delivery route at a medical building shortly before Christmas, an unforgettable experience unfolded.
I remember stepping off the elevator onto the wrong floor. As I was about to re-enter the elevator, a young man got off, realized his mistake, and remarked that he had done the same. I felt this was more than a simple coincidence. Stepping to the side in the hallway, I inquired about what he needed.
With tears in his eyes, he shared that he had just come from the E.R., where doctors had informed him that his baby boy might not survive the day. I offered him a small card that read, “Jesus is the reason for the season,” with Christmas just around the bend. He pondered if that was what he needed. I assured him of God’s healing power and asked if I could pray with him. Agreeing, he said that might be exactly what he needed at that moment. So, I prayed for his baby’s healing and for it to stand as a testimony for His Father, family and friends to the living Christ, who is as alive today as always.
I expressed to him my belief that God had intervened in his situation. Roughly 45 minutes later, as I was leaving the building, I encountered the young man again. He approached me, beaming with joy, and exclaimed, “The doctors say there’s been a turnaround; my baby boy is going to be okay, and we can take him home tomorrow.”
He then declared his intention to start attending church, starting that very Sunday. Indeed, God is capable and continues to perform healings. All praise to God. For His glory.
