I’d like to share a personal experience that I believe was a manifestation of faith in action. It occurred in the fall of 2002 when my son Joshua bought his first house. I took two weeks off work to replace his roof and re-side his house. A friend, my nephew, and another helper joined us. We had removed half the roof on one side and were about to start on the other when I received two phone calls warning of an impending storm, giving us about fifteen minutes before it would hit.
Realizing the exposed plywood could suffer water damage, I turned to my friend and declared, “God halted the sun for Joshua in the Bible; He can stop the rain for us. God shows no favoritism.” I asked him to join me in prayer, and I commanded the clouds, “It will not rain here today. It may rain to my left and right, but not on this block. Let this be a testament to a living God. Amen.”
My nephew then asked, “Uncle Paul, what now?” I confidently replied, “Remove the other side. It won’t rain here.” We finished the day with the roof fully stripped and covered with roofing paper. It rained around us, but our block remained dry. Glory to God!
Indeed, God stands with those who are spiritually ready for any storm. It could have been disastrous if not for divine intervention. This was both an act of faith and a miracle, a literal alteration of nature’s course that day. Praise be to God!
