Good morning to all. As I continue a thought from the other morning, God’s will for man. It is the believer’s responsibility, as Apostle Paul states in Romans 12:1, “that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service”. Throughout the New Testament, we see the doctrinal foundation of the real Christian living, that of dying out to the world and living unto Christ. We as a Christian are individually considered to God “a holy priesthood.”
Each believer are to “offer up spiritual sacrifices,” our mind, thoughts, our spirit, and our body, with worship, praise, and thanksgiving, in action and deed. This will only happen as we love the Lord God with all we have. We are a holy people, which must consist of everything in us and around us, to be holy. In other words, “We are in this world but NOT to be of this world.”
Verse 2 in Romans 12, gives us the very key to knowing God’s will, as stated, And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind PROVE what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. You might say we are God’s workmanship, clay in the potter’s hand, being molded into a holy vessel of honor for His purpose.
Our minds are to be “in harmony” with Christ and be guided by the very mind of Christ in us. The Holy Spirit resides in us for guidance, direction, teaching, and understanding of the Word of God, leading us into all truth.
Honoring God is to be a lifelong commitment, for we all will reach the end of our lives. We are to be presented unto our Father, God, as a holy vessel of honor. Our reward is waiting. In the meantime, we all make up the body of Christ, individual members of the body with individual “gifts,” to be used accordingly, “as God has dealt to every man the measure of faith.”
How exciting to know, that God through the power of the Holy Spirit, is working in us and perfecting (becoming into a maturity in Christ) in us, (conforming us into that spotless bride, whom Christ will one day present to His Heavenly Father.
So, this life in Christ is a life unto good, not evil; for we are responsible towards a higher power that of God Himself; who has ordained us from the beginning. Yes, God knew us before we were ever born!
While we are truly free in Christ as a believer. Throughout the New Testament, we see as examples, principles and practices, of our Christian liberty. They are to help us in our decision making, and to act in full confidence that which is pleasing to Christ. Even though we are free to make our own decisions in this life, we still need to conform “to that which is the reasonable and acceptable will of God,” and in doing so we will be pleasing to God.
As we often hear, what would Jesus do? As we read the scriptures, we began to apply and be like Christ as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. You might say, that as Christ is in us, so are we.
As Apostle Paul so graciously put it, so shall I. “And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.”
